Birthday Parties:
One of the most common things a parent will have to endure is birthday parties. Not only your child's birthday parties (which obviously come once a year for each child), but that of all their little friends from school, daycare, t-ball, any other classes they may take, etc. You won't even realize how many friends your child has until you start receiving birthday invitations. It can get rather hectic when it seems like every other weekend you are taking your child to attend a party. It can also get expensive. There are a few ways to battle both of these situations when taking your child to many birthday parties:
• See if other parents will be dropping the children off—once your child has been to a bunch of birthday parties, you will begin to see that the circle of friends and parents are mostly the same. If several parents will be staying and several will be dropping their children off for the party, you can work it out with a few other parents to where you can stay at one party, and then the next one a different parent will stay, and each time a parent stays, they are responsible for the others' children. Similar to carpooling, this can work wonders in saving you some time on weekends when you have other things you need to be doing besides running your child back and forth to birthday parties.
• Plan in advance to save money—one of the best ways to save money on all the birthday presents you will have to buy throughout the year is to buy the gifts early. When you are shopping if you see a nice toy on clearance for a child around your child's age go ahead and buy it. You don't even have to have a child in mind when you buy it. This is especially true if it is a nice toy that is steeply discounted. An excellent time to buy several toys like this is right after Christmas when everything is on sale. Another good time to do this is at the end of summer and the end of winter when all the seasonal items are clearanced. Then, you can store all these presents in a closet or garage, and when your child gets a birthday party invitation, simply look at your toy stash, and pick out what you think the birthday kid will like best. In the long run, this can save you a lot of money on toys, as well as save you the grief of having to make a last-minute shopping trip the day of the party because you forgot to buy a gift.
When your child will be having a birthday party, you may be thinking of having it at your house, but some parents don't realize the benefits of having the party in a fun public place. Sure, these parties can get expensive, but it often saves you a lot of stress over having to organize all the kids for games and cake, it saves you from having to clean up the mess after they all leave, and it protects your house from being destroyed. Great places to have kid birthday parties include the following:
• Miniature golf/co-cart places
• Chuck E. Cheese
• Skating Rinks
• Arcades
• Small children's amusement places
There are many more places, as well, and all you have to do to plan a birthday party is ask them what kind of packages they have. Often, they will have a package that allows entry for a certain number of children, a birthday cake, a small meal such as hotdogs, and more.
