Designer Clothes and Shoes:

All kids want nice clothes and shoes, and as soon as they hear name brands, they start wanting those. They begin to want whatever designer clothes they see their friends wearing, or even people on TV. Just because this is what your child wants, though, doesn't mean it's what they have to have.

Luckily for parents, the cheaper clothing companies have started making clothes that greatly resemble designer gear. At this age, children aren't so much aware of the name on the tag as they are of how it looks. They want the designer gear because they see other people wearing it and they like it, not because they are trying to fit in with a certain crowd.

And, at this age, even if your child does know the difference between a real and a fake, there is still nothing saying you have to buy the real one. To most parents, it just doesn’t make sense. At this age, you are lucky if a child makes it through a whole season before they outgrow everything they need during that time. Most times, you will have to buy all new pants at the beginning of winter, and close to the end, your child will have outgrown them. Then, you buy new ones, and they only get to wear them for about a month before it is springtime and they no longer need them. By the time winter rolls around again, they have outgrown those almost new clothes.

And this happens every year for several years. It wouldn't be so bad if you could resell the clothes, or even give them away, but most of the time, children of this age are extremely rough on their clothes. This means that by the time they outgrow them (which, as we just talked about, is only a few months' time), there are already holes in the knees, stains on the shirts, rips and tears, and anything else you could imagine.

The same goes with shoes. Children, during this time in their life, grow extremely fast, and this includes their feet. They are also just as hard (if not harder) on shoes as they are clothes. So why would you, knowing that the shoes will only last for a couple of months, tops, buy your child the most expensive shoes on the market?

This is, of course, completely up to you as a parent, but it is nice to know before you make the decision approximately how long your child will get use out of what you are buying them. Then you just have to decide if your financial situation will allow you to spend that kind of money for that amount of usage.
