Unusual Kids Toys :

Unusual kids’ toys—there are so many unusual kids’ toys on the market today, and they seem to be getting weirder and weirder. Top of the list of unusual toys are some that it is actually surprising that kids would be interesting. The following are some currently available strange toys that you may need to prepare for (just in case one of them is on your child’s Christmas list):

• Ned’s Head—this is a game in which the title object (Ned’s Head) is a plush head containing many strange items. The players draw a card with an item on it, and then they must blindly reach into the head and pull out the correct item. One of the items in his head is a rat!

• Bleeding Edge Goth Dolls—as if children aren’t adopting a gothic appearance young enough, there are now dolls that can’t seem to find a place to fit in at Barbie’s high school. Many of these dolls come complete with their own cobra and have names such as Storm O. Misery.

• Action Figures—not that these action figures are very popular, but if you are in the market for strange, there are a few available, including a Librarian action figure, Einstein action figure, and Edgar Allen Poe action figure.

Hottest kids’ toys for 2006—there are many toys that are on this year’s most wanted list by children, and some of them are repeats from last year, but many of them are more recently marketed toys. Some of them were just announced at the International Toy Fair and will be in stores just in time for the holiday shopping season. The following list has been compiled from a variety of sources to obtain the leading hottest toys for 2006:

• Potty Dolls—while it may seem that this is not the kind of toy that would become popular, they surprisingly have. Partially due to the fame brought to potty dolls by Dr. Phil, and partially due to their repeated success with children, this is one of the top selling toys this year, and it’s no doubt that many parents will be purchasing these as gifts.

• Retro toys—there are a variety of different toys that fall under this category, including such toy items as Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Weebles, and more. Many of these toys faded for years into the background, but they are now being brought back with a vengeance.

• Video games—as always, video games are at the top of the list of toys coveted by children. This includes many new release games, and especially games for older children, such as Madden 2006. For the younger children, there are new plug and play types of video games that are aimed at teaching children while they play. InteracTV is one of such new games and is brought to the public by Fisher Price.

• Movie and television related toys—think of any of newer popular kids’ movies, and you can find a toy to match it. There are toys and dolls related to Harry Potter, Star Wars, Madagascar, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and even American Idol based Barbie dolls.

• Princesses—there has been an explosion recently of Disney princess characters and girls of many ages love them. Combining all of the Disney princesses from the most popular of classic Disney movies (including Snow White, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Jasmine), girls have a variety of toys to choose from. This includes dress-up gear, Barbie-type dolls, make-up kits, diaries, and more.
